All of the administrative matters of UTV are handled by the UTV Board. Now more than ever, this year's UTV Board is committed to change. They seek to make 2008 a banner year for UTV and take the station to all-new heights.
Sonie
Guseh President
Sonie Guseh is a College sophomore majoring in English with a concentration in Journalism and Print Culture and minoring in Spanish. Sonie started out with UTV as a crew member and reporter for the news department, became the news director, and is now the president of the station. Sonie also co-created, co-produced, and co-anchored PENNEWS13 in 2007 with Zoya Abdikulova. Sonie is now the anchor and producer of The Penn Report. During the summers, Sonie is a four-summer Emma Bowen Foundation intern with WTVD-ABC11 in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina from where she hails. She works primarily in the news department with producers, reporters, assignment editors, and news managers. Upon graduation, Sonie hopes to pursue a career in journalism, possibly as a news producer. In addition to UTV, she is also the programming tri-chair of the United Minorities Council, a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program and a member of the Penn African Students Association and the Social Planning and Events Committee to Represent Undergraduate Minorities. She enjoys reading, writing, and running.
Chris
Sulmone Director of Station Operations
Chris Sulmone is an Engineering Sophomore majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. He began his career at UTV13 as a way to branch out and is now Director of Operations. Chris is also Treasurer of the University of Pennsylvania Cycling Team and on the Board of Directors with the Computer Science Department's Dining Philosophers. Chris wants a future in broadcasting, and he sees UTV13 as a great way to branch out and experience what Penn truly has to offer.
Jamie R. Seltzer Director of Business and Finance
Jamie Seltzer is a sophomore in Wharton majoring in Finance. His interests lie in Investment Banking and Television Advertisment. He is also a member of the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, Kappa Sigma, Wharton Cohort Leader, Penn Ski Team. He also likes soccer.
Kyle Johnson Director of Entertainment Programming/ Co-Advertising Director
Kyle Johnson is a self-described “energetic television-loving guy who's seen every episode of more than a dozen shows.” His favorite television channel is Cartoon Network, after 10 pm once their "Adult Swim" program block comes on. After a few years in the business, he hopes to be a writer or producer of some amazing awesome show that everyone watches. Kyle is a sophomore majoring in Visual Studies and Communications. His career interests are advertising and production within the television or film industries. He is also a member of the 2010 Class Board, Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity, and JV Basketball. He has worked with UTV’s political show The Penn Red.
Brian Canavan Director of Production Services
Brian Canavan is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences. While majoring in communications, he is also a Pi Kappa Alpha brother and a PennQuest leader. Right now he has his career sights set on video production and editing. Brian is primarily interested in camera work and post production, but he is into anything and everything relating to TV and video. Brian says, although “I’ve only been with UTV13 for one semester, but I'm excited to be on board.”
Alexander Turner Director of News Programming
I am a freshman from Iowa in the College, majoring in political science. Ever since I was young, I read the news. Now I am the News Director at UTV13. I am interested in pursuing a career in TV or government.
Allison Seelig Co-Director of Recruitment
Allison is a sophomore in the college majoring in Communications and Cinema Studies. She has been involved with UTV since the beginning of freshman year and served as Director of Production prior to acting as co-Recruitment Director. She also interned at HBO this past summer and hopes to pursue a career in the television industry.
Kevin Koplan 2007 President
Kevin Koplan, now the ex-president of UTV13 has been with the station since the fall of 2006 and was president for the spring and fall of 2007. As ex-president Kevin has a pending book deal and speaking tour based on his experiences in office. On top of his ex-presidential duties, he directs The Democratic Voice once a week and occasionally contributes material to the show. After he leaves UTV, Kevin hopes to become a film producer/director and intends to buy a private island after he wins his first Academy Award.
